Januray 25th, 2012… ’100 Things’ Turns Chinese!
January 25, 2012 in 100 Things
Last week I gave two talks to a large business conference in Canberra. Stood on a stage in front of 1,200 people I began what was one of the most enjoyable speeches I’ve given to date. Why? Well I’m not sure to be honest, but I think it has something to do with the idea of progress.
The 100 Things journey is something that follows no plan. Quite literally it is driven by a momentum that I have no control over. The fact that I find myself talking on stage to large audiences about my journey and even the fact that I can walk into a book store and see my own book on a shelf is still something that makes me take a step back and laugh at myself. The thing is though that with every day and with development that I’m lucky enough to see unfold in front of me, I’m filled with a feeling that tells me I’m doing the right thing. Of course this feeling is not based on figures or other tangible indicators- instead it can be as simple as seeing someone in a crowd smile at one of my stories or another taking the time to email me and sharing that they have created their own list nice reading my book. It simply feels right.
With the attitude that these occurrences are enough to confirm how I feel within, it comes with a great big smile (a confused one at that!) to announce that the 100 Things book is now going to be released in China! Can you believe it? I certainly can’t.
Now the ramifications of this most recent development are great on so many levels but there are two things that stick out more so than others. In the first instance, the positive message of 100 Things will be reaching even more people. This is one of the main focuses for me- spreading the love! I can safely say that for every person that hears of this journey, a large majority will walk away with consideration to making their lives better in one way or another. Secondly, and possibly on a slightly less mature level, the book that I wrote will now have to be translated into Chinese! Thankfully the task of translating every word will not be left to me (my Chinese is rusty to say the least!) but in what will be quite the process the 100 Things book will be published in another language- how funny is that!
As I said, I have no control over this journey but with every development that pops up, I’m convinced that there’s a great thing happening. The scary thing is that I don’t see why this momentum will stop. Life is boundless.
100 Things… What’s on your list?

Congratulations Seb! That’s great news! I’m so happy that you have found a life that let’s you follow your dreams, that you feel you now have a purpose. I just hope one day I find the same, I’m one step closer – today I quit the job I hate. I also believe life works out for the best, that the universe provides what you need, especially if you are trying to help other people. Keep it up xxh
