As you may know, last year I managed to tick off Number 4 from the list, Raise $100,000 for Camp Quality. Needless to say I was over the moon, but not wanting to stop there, I decided that I should try and raise $1million for 10 different charities.

Why not, right?

Choosing Alzheimers Australia as the second charity, I got myself involved in a fundraising effort called the 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge, run by an incredible lady by the name of Jane from Fitness Energy, Melbourne. The title gives it away but basically I attempted to stay on a treadmill for 24 hours (toilet breaks allowed!!). Being supported by an incredible network of people who all came down and ran next to me for various time increments on the 15 treadmills provided, I crossed the line with a limp, a smile and $40,000 raised for Alzheimers Australia. It was a team effort with Jane running 150 kms and people from across the country running or donating online. Amazing.

With plenty of time to recover, and still $60,000 to raise, I am excited to announce that Jane and I are again running the 24 Hour Challenge this September. This would allow me to reach my $100,000 target but ultimately help further research into a disease that there is sadly no cure for to date! Did you know that a new dementia patient is diagnosed approximately every 6 minutes!

When: Fitness Energy, shop 1&2 Hopetown Rd, Park Orchards, Melbourne

When: 12pm Friday September 5th-12pm Saturday September 6th

Who: You!

It’s no secret that the reason last year was so successful was because of the support from strangers and friends alike. With this in mind, there are 3 things that you can do to help us reach our goal this September:

1) RUN WITH US-  If you’re in Melbourne, why not come out and run (or walk) by yourself or with friends. Whether you want to book in 30 mins or 24 hours, come join the fun by donating $30 for each 30 minute block that you or your team run.

2) DONATE ONLINE- If you can’t come and join us, why not support an amazing cause by donating any amount you desire online.

3) SPONSOR A TREADMILL- With Channel 10 following our progress and media supporting our cause, perhaps you’d like to sponsor a treadmill. The cost is $2000 with full naming rights to your chosen treadmill.

Open to anyone and everyone, I can’t wait to jump back on the treadmill and also do a little bit of  MC’ing throughout the 24 hour period. With themed hours (Superhero hour was my favourite last year!), there’s plenty of fun to be had.
