ITINERARY

Day 1: Meet your team! Buenos Aires, Argentina

Elegant and exciting Buenos Aires is where Old World sophistication dances to the beat of tango music. It’s the perfect place to meet Seb and your 100 Things team as we get to know eachother. Argentina’s capital is certainly one of the world’s most eclectic places, with various neighbourhoods reflecting the city’s diverse cultural heritage. Grand colonial edifices surround the Plaza de Mayo, while glamour and grit walk side-by-side down the pedestrian streets of Florida and Lavalle. The colourful areas of Recoleta, San Telmo and La Boca all tell their own stories in this city where reality and romance are never too far from each other.

Arrival Transfers: Please note an arrival transfer from the airport on Day 1 is included in your voyage fare. Full details will be sent with your final joining instructions.

Day 2: Ushuaia – Embarkation Day

After a good sleep and a big breakfast at the hotel we will be transferred to the airport to board our private charter flight to Ushuaia, in the far south of Argentina. Upon arrival, we’ll take a short city tour of this quaint port town before heading to the pier.

Embarkation will occur in the late afternoon, and after sailing down the historic Beagle Channel which transects the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in the extreme south of South America, we’ll sit down for a 100 Things ‘Ice Breaking’ session. Expect an air of excitement as we depart- the next time we’ll see land we’ll be in the world’s southernmost continent!

Day 3-4: Crossing the Drake Passage

Prepare yourself for potentially rough water, but hope for a smooth sailing as the Drake is unpredictable and always changing. We’ll spend these first days getting to know your shipmates and also be treated to Seb’s world-renowned 100 Things keynote presentation. We’ll also be offering fun workshop style sessions designed to tweak and upgrade our mindsets for long after our trip over!  We’ll also be having safety briefings and insights into what excitement lies ahead.

Day 5-8: South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula

It’s time to Explore!

When the Antarctic Convergence is left in our wake, we will truly begin our Antarctic adventure. It is perhaps the first sight of land itself that is embraced as the true beginning of any Antarctic expedition. You can begin to appreciate why this region has long captivated the attention of explorers and travellers alike. Each trip to Antarctica is different and our trip is guaranteed to be unique. We will take Zodiac excursions from the ship to explore bays, channels and landing sites each day. With wildlife always at the forefront of our minds you will visit penguin rookeries, scout for humpback and minke whales and search for a number of the southern seal species, including the cunning leopard seal.

The majesty of the Peninsula’s mountains will enchant you as you scramble up snowy pathways to vantage points offering 360° views of your surroundings. One of these in particular, in Orne Harbour, gives the opportunity to visit a chinstrap penguin colony high up on a ridge. Here you’ll have the choice between going for a mountain hike or spending time sitting quietly on a pebbled beach to enjoy the antics of curious penguins. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, participating in the Polar Plunge swim is about as crazy as it gets! Amidst the peaceful silence of Antarctica, noisy interruptions become indelible memories such as penguins squabbling over prized pebbles or the boom and crack of a calving glacier in Neko Harbour. You can make a bit of noise yourself too and listen to the echo of voices bounce off a giant glacier.

Every day will be different, and with post-dinner conversations delving into our personal tales and thoughts, our learnings of the region and ourselves is ongoing.

Meals included: 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 4 dinners

Day 9-10: Drake Passage

The Return

The journey back across the Drake Passage provides you with some final opportunities to enjoy the crisp Antarctic air and digest an incredible week of exploration amongst new friends.  Spend time on the deck watching for seabirds and scouting for whales, enjoy a few final presentations by your expedition team or simply relax and reminisce about your experiences. A celebratory dinner caps off an experience of a lifetime in style.

Meals included: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners

Day 11: Disembarkation in Ushuaia and fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina

In the early morning we arrive back in Ushuaia, where our cruise ends. It’s been an incredible 11 days of adventure.

After disembarkation, you will have a little time to explore Ushuaia before we transfer to the airport for the return group charter flight to Buenos Aires.

With one last night together, we enjoy a trademark 100 Things Awards Night, acknowledging and celebrating how far we’ve come!
